Joel Sawyer, Dyann McCully and David Bakutis

Joel Sawyer, Dyann McCully and David Bakutis have practiced law together for more than twenty-three (23)  years.  They started their legal careers in Fort Worth at a large downtown firm, and decided 16 years ago to form their own firm, and Bakutis, McCully and Sawyer, P. C. was born.  Each of our shareholders is Board Certified in Estate Planning and Probate and are certified by the State Bar to serve as an attorney ad litem to represent the interests of a person for whom a guardianship is proposed.

Each brings a specific strength to the firm:

David Bakutis manages the Probate Litigation section of the firm.   He and his team handle cases of will contests involving issues of contested capacity or undue influence and claims against executors or trustees involving breach of fiduciary duties  and other administrative issues..

Dyann McCully manages the Guardianship section of the firm.  She and her team often serve as Attorney Ad Litem or Guardian Ad Litem, Guardian of the Estate, or as the attorney for an individual who has been named Guardian of the Estate and/or Person.  She is often appointed as a Successor Guardian by probate judges in Tarrant and surrounding counties due to her ability to resolve matters that have been mishandled by others. 

Joel Sawyer manages the Estate Planning and Tax section of the firm.  He and his team work with clients on complex estate plans involving business succession planning, wealth preservation, the use of LLC’s and LP’s for family businesses, farms and ranches, as well as oil and gas interests.
